Questions about Nekomura Games

Postby Midnighticequeen » Sat May 30, 2009 5:00 pm

What kind of games will Nekomura be making in the future? Are they like in a specific genre, got a certain theme, audience? For example Kishi Kawaii likes to make cute games mostly targeted at boys, but can be played by all. Is Nekomura aiming a certain field of gaming, audience, etc, or will we find out in the future? How many people does Nekomura have on it's staff already?

I look forward to whatever you make though, I like the art style and the writing. :D

We like making cute, relatively short (or at least divided into chapters) story and character centered games!

We are currently developing a mystery visual novel / adventure The stolen Diamond Ring.
Another RPG (in a setting completely different from Violet Princess) has also been in the making for a long time now, but I can't disclose any details yet ^^;

As for the future, I wanted to make a raising sim ever since I played Princess Maker 2, and this wish has been strongly reinforced by playing PM5! It's inevitable - expect to see something like that in the future :D
A dating sim for girls is also under consideration :)

Currently 3 people, but not full time.

That sounds kind of like the games I'd like to make and play. Dating sim and sim-raising games seems interesting, Spirited Heart by Jack Norton is a sim-raising game made with Renpy; you should check it out if you want to get some creative ideas flowing. http://lemmasoft.renai.us/forums/viewto ... =11&t=5000

I look forward to seeing how Nekomura games progresses in the future

I loved Princess Maker! I would be very interested in a raising sim like that. I think it would also be fun to be able to choose between a boy or a girl, or have a 'random' feature. I might like to make that myself now, lol.

That's a good idea! ^_^ Seriously, I wish more people did. This type of game really deserves its own genre with lots of specialised subgenres - I wish lots of different raising sims by different developers / companies were coming out every month like other kinds of games (RPGs etc.) do.
I always wondered what a Princess Maker clone done by Koei or Capcom would look and play like.

We'll probably make one, but not in the near future.

Are there raising sims with male leads? It would be kinda cool to train up your own Japanese warrior in search of an honorable path and a yamato nadeshiko. He could be a samurai or a ninja or a merchant or a poet or a monk...

Haa...how cute that would be. *_*

That would be great!

Raising sims with male leads seem to be pretty rare. I only know of one: "DEAR My SUN!" for PS2 (I'd post a link to the official site, but for some reason, their site doesn't seem to work).
I haven't played it, but apparently the protagonist is a single mother raising one of her sons (the other one is staying with grandma and they meet later in the game). The setting seems to be modern, so no samurai career I'm afraid ^^;

In Princess Maker 5, the player finally has a chance to be a "mother" instead of "father" (both options are available), so maybe they'll develop it further in the next game and finally let the player choose the child's gender, too?
